Advanced German Longsword

We focus mainly on the 15th/16th century Liechtenauer tradition of German Longsword. This class is appropriate for anyone who has a grasp of the fundamentals, such as from the Beginner’s course or previous experience from personal practice or another club.


Beginner’s German Longsword

This is a 6 week course for all new students. All necessary gear will be provided. Students should wear sports appropriate clothing, including closed-toe shoes.

Classes will be every Monday, 7pm – 8pm from March 12th – April 16th.

At the completion of the class, students will be able to join the Advanced German Longsword classes on Mondays and Thursdays.

German Dussack

Description: This class will teach students the fundamentals of Dussack, a traditional weapon of the German 16th/17th century that has similar technique to sabre and messer. The class is a 6 month course that will cover the primary guards, basic attacks and defense, footwork, and tactical elements of dussack fencing. Students will perform solo and paired drills based on the plays in the historic manuals. The class will also cover the history of the weapon.

Gear: Dussacks will be provided. Students can bring their own if they have one. The club can provide masks if students do not have their own.


Sword and Buckler

Description: This class will explore Sword and Buckler from multiple sources including I.33, Liegniczer, and Bolognese.

Gear: Students are encouraged to bring their own mask, gloves, arming sword, and buckler. The club will provide these items for students who do not have them.
